About the Orchestra
The American Contemporary Classical Orchestra grew out of Maestro Dokken's desire to promote the composition and performance of accessible, beautiful, contemporary classical music. Too often, modern classical music is just "weird," and while there is a place for this type of music, ACCO believes that audiences also want to hear truly beautiful music that is accessible and digestible. This type of music is being written, but unfortunately is rarely programmed by professional orchestras. ACCO aims to change that. These brilliant composers deserve to have their music performed, and audiences deserve to hear it. Said one ACCO Board member, "If we don't continue to promote and program these types of compositions, then people stop writing them, and that would be a travesty."
The ACCO is honored to perform in the historic Miracle Theater, Washington DC s oldest movie theater.
