MAESTRO JEFFERY DOKKEN
As featured in Virginia Living Magazine’s “Best Of” issue, Maestro Jeffrey Sean Dokken is one of today’s most dynamic, engaging, and versatile conductors. Celebrated for his compelling podium presence, visionary leadership, and commitment to innovative programming, Dokken has led performances across the United States, South America, and Europe in many of the world’s most prestigious venues.
In the U.S., he has performed at landmark venues including The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Music Center at Strathmore, Constitution Hall, and The Grand Opera House. His international appearances span dozens of acclaimed halls throughout Europe, North America, and South America. A champion of new music and a favorite collaborator of many iconic living composers, Dokken had the honor to conduct the world premiers of “Concerto for Flute and Orchestra” by Philip Glass in Florence, Italy, and “Violin Concerto No. 2” by Lee Holdridge in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Maestro Dokken currently serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Rome Symphony Orchestra, the oldest continuously performing professional symphony in the American South. Now in its 104th season, the RSO continues to thrive artistically and expand its musical and community impact under his leadership. He also holds the position of Principal Guest Conductor of the Guayaquil Philharmonic in Ecuador, one of Latin America’s leading orchestras. Additionally, Dokken is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the American Contemporary Classical Orchestra, a Washington, D.C.-based ensemble devoted to the performance of accessible, beautiful neoclassical works. He is also the Founder of Music With the Maestro, a unique edu-tainment platform that brings audiences closer to classical music through public lectures, speaking engagements, and meticulously curated concerts.
Dokken maintains a vibrant guest conducting career. He has led internationally respected ensembles including the National Symphony of Brazil, Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Domenico Scarlatti (Florence), Orchestra Senzaspine (Bologna), Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca, Orquesta Sinfónica de Loja, and the Long Island Concert Orchestra, among many others. Upcoming 2026 engagements include return performances across South America and the United States, and debuts with the Cairo Symphony and the International Brazilian Opera Company.
Dokken is an accomplished tenor and multi-instrumentalist. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands, completed his teaching credential at California Lutheran University, and received his Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from University of Texas El Paso.
Beyond the concert hall, Dokken maintains a robust catalogue of recordings as a conductor, performer, composer, and consultant. His work spans major labels, international collaborations, and multiple genres.
